How to grow your spotify playlist?

7 Tips to get followers on your Spotify playlist

Spotify can be known as the music streaming platform with most number of users. Currently it has over 350 million users and over 150 million subscribers. As a artist, building numbers in Spotify is very important as it has a large audience. Spotify will help out the artists to get through the audience and make their fan base. There are many strategies used by Spotify to get the music for the correct fan base. Playlisting strategy can be known as the best out of it. There are three main types of playlists called, Algorithmic playlists, Editorial playlists and listener made playlists. Both the editorial and algorithmic playlists are controlled by the Spotify algorithm or the Spotify team. They have provided the feature for its listeners to create and their own playlist and grow it. Most of the artists struggle to get in with these playlists and they see listeners made playlists are the best option for them to get their music easily to a large audience. This has created the opportunity for listeners who have a good sense of music to create their own music and even to earn through it. This article give you 7 major tips to grow your Spotify playlist, all these methods has been tested and we got good results through them.

1.       1. Keep it active

This can be known as the main key point to grow your playlist, as a curator I have experienced this. I get more followers for the playlists which I listen daily when compared to others. I assume that Spotify algorithm is pushing the playlists with more number of active listeners. Other than getting more followers this also helped me to get in to top of search results. Some days I have experienced I get low number of followers when I don’t much listen it. So I recommend you to listen to your playlist as much as possible.

2. Update frequently

Nobody wants to listen to the same list of songs for a long period of time. People used to join with these playlists because they got no time to search the latest songs for them. So the curator should be able to do this for them. You should identify the preference of your audience and update it frequently. As a listener I look for the previous update date before following it, if it haven’t updated since a long period I don’t follow it because I know this playlist owner will not bring me the latest songs as they released soon.

3. Place the most recent tracks on top

As discussed above a playlist should be updated frequently to attract followers, but these tracks should not be placed at the end of the playlist. Latest’s songs must be added on top of the playlist to make listeners feel your playlist is been updated frequently. You should place some catchy music on top of the playlist to make them follow it. First few tracks in the playlist give an impression for the listener about the playlist, so it is important to place good music on top of your playlist.

4. Find your Niche

There are thousands of playlist on spotify, find a niche market within that with a low competition. When I started my first playlist, there was only 4 playlists for my target fan base, listeners didn’t had a good playlist which update frequently. I took the benefit out from this where I passed all other curators on that market. Currently I have 10K+ followers on that playlist without any promotion through social media. I didn’t share it on social media because I didn’t have much of an audience around me. Targeting your playlist for a niche market is a good strategy to grow your playlist.

5. SEO your playlist title with keywords

Adding keywords for your title will help you to get your playlist on top of search results. Example: you can add the genre or the type of music you are hoping to add for your playlist.

 6. Try to get featured on artist profiles

This might be little hard, but you can give it a try. I have contacted some artist who have been featured on my playlist and requested them to add my playlist for the “Artist Pick” and for the playlist section of artist profile. This will help to attract the fans who visit the artist profile.

7. Share your playlist through people

You can share your playlist with people who are interested on your playlist. You can find your fan base through various Facebook groups. Request your close friends to listen the music through your playlist if they are interested on any song which is placed on it since this will help you to get more listeners and get notified for the algorithm.
